I just got a grafmatic holder from Ebay. It seems to be in good shape. I tested it by cycling through all 6 (empty) septums several times. All seemed fine. However, the first time I loaded it up and shot with it, something went wrong; the first shot cycled through ok, I exposed the 2nd shot, but cycling through to #3, the drawer wouldn't close all the way. I pulled the drawer open again, and this time it slid back in just fine. All the rest of the shots cycled through ok... later I discovered that shot #2 had a pair of gouges on the emulsion side, parallel to the direction of travel, and the septum that held #2 had a corresponding set of gouges in the metal. #2 also is fogged in the center of the neg, and #3 and #4 also have some fogging. I tried to make this problem happen again, cycling through all septums numerous times without film in them, but can't make it happen again. Any comments? |
