I have in my possession a "Slide Type 2 for 5x7 Roll Holder", Cat. No. 1689. Graflex, Inc.
NOS, sealed in the original Graflex manila envelope.
Can anybody tell me what this is/was for?
If anyone needs it, PM me.

If the envelope is roughly 5x7 to 6x8 then its a darkslide for a #54 5x7 Graflex roll film holder.

The sealed envelope measures 6 1/2" x 9 1/2"...probably close enough?
Any idea what camera would this have been used with?
Thanks for the info!

Likely any Graflex 5x7 SLR o Graphic 5X7 WITH A Graflex back.
First seen in catalogs around 1915, first seen on page 54 of this catalog
http://piercevaubel.com/cam/catalogs/1915graflexlp592.htm
and continues for several years.
It could be a replacement darkslide for a standard 5x7 film or 5x7 plate holder.

The darkslides were not standardized the roll film holder, double sided sheet film holder, or the plate holder.

Aha!
Thank you for the link, that helps a lot.
Good to get a visual.... I had visions of something along the lines of a WWII aerial camera back.
Cheers!

I gave the slide to a Graflex collector...but it got me to wondering...
Is there a Graflex museum?
It seems like there should be!
