For years I planed to learn how to use a 4x5 field camera when I completed all the photography classes offered at our local community college. (I currently use a 35mm rangefinder). Curiously however a very nice lady who was a compleate stranger offered me her father's old Speed Graphic (Ser# on the range finder is E99840) he purchased new in 1923.
My questions are, where can I find an instruction manual for this camera? and How do you get it to open? How does it focus? Is it safe to remove the flash mount, or does it somehow support the rf? Thanks' for patients with all my questions JimG |

Go here: http://graflex.org/speed-graphic/graphic-models.html
To find out what model it is.
The serial number on the RF is just that, for the RF and means little for the camera itself.
If you search these forums, most of your questions will be answered...
To open, look for a bump on the top middle of the camera towards the front. Push it down.
Leave the flash bracket on. Why would you want to removed it?
The manual can be bought from Craig camera on-line (do a search). If it happens to be an Anniversary, you can get the manual from http://www.southbristolviews.com under graflex manuals.
Good luck with it and enjoy...
