How rare are these? Should I keep my eyes open? It's not like a lot of things would fit the back. Or is the choice wider then I think?

Judging from the number of responses so far, no one else has seen any more of them than I have, which is zero.

As far as I know, they're as common as 8x10 Grafloks

Since Graflex stopped making the 5x7 Speed in the 40s and the Graflok came out in 1950, it will be as rare as 8x10 Speed Graphics, 3x4 Graphic Polaroid backs, Imperial size (quarter plate) Speeds, and 3x4 military Speeds,

Ahhh, that illusive 8x10 Speed... One of these days I'll track one down!

If the Ansco has a removable back like the 8x10's do, and you want to just use a roll holder, then why not make a 4x5 back for it? That way you could use it as a 4x5 camera and be able to use all the 4x5 Graflok attachments...

I want to do that do. I watched a Toyo [Toho? I forget which] 4x5 back that I thought could easily be adapted to fit but it sold for not much less then I paid for the camera.

The Canham holder is 6x17 but it's very expensive. OTOH Shen Hao I think sells one for a 1/3 the price. Likely no motor drive or the fine craftsmenship that the Canham is supposed to have but it's a lot closer to affordable. But both need a 5x7 graflok back.

Unless you are determined to use the 6X17 back, you may be better off getting a 6X12. That will work with a 4X5 Graflok which can be found for modification onto your Ansco. There was a comprehensive reivew of panoramic roll backs in View Camera magazine a few issues ago; you may want to dig it out.
