Now we have upon us the 60th.Anniversary of the D-day landings in Europe.June the 6th.is a quiet reflection time of those that lost lives in this great battle...
...and to those photographers along with Anni- Graphics that told the tale & never returned.Pictures that go down in history showing an historic occasion for future generations to see,of the horrors of warfare.
No 'digital',hardly any 35mm,just plain old 'plates'clattering away like machine gun bullets (which were flying overhead).
As the saying goes "they brought back the bacon",through hell & high water.
To those men,& the Graphic,we salute,with pride. |

I watched the tail end of the dedication of the WWII memorial in Washington, DC this afternoon. Very touching and much too long overdue.
I would encourage all of the younger generation to do some reading and research what really went on during those trying times, not only for the troops, but folks at home in all of the affected countries. Newly declassified information is available that tells some shocking and very sad details of the war. I wish I could be in Normandy next week for the dedication there ----
