My 65 Optar is moody. Sometimes it wants to give good results, other times not. Focusing the little beast is always, well, exciting, shall we say? I resort to the tried and true "least worst" method, often with sharp results. Focusing was easier with the inexpensive little 8x loupe is used before I took the plunge and went for the Toyo 3.8x. Must be a lesson here someplace. I did have the loaner use of an Angulon 65 f/8 (not a Super!) for a while, but I found it to be no better than the Optar and I disliked the Compur shutter.

yes therein lies the problem and why I do not have a 65 Angulon. At f8 I can't imagine setting up compositions would be a very enjoyable experience before sunrise or even in daylight for that matter, and the Compur restricts to f22. I use those 8x loupes and find them OK for the center areas but they will not show the edges or corners so guess work leads to some problems, but they are small light and that is why I continue to use them. They work well also when setting up RF's (with a 3055 rangescope magnifier on the RF also) because I can just stick them in a pocket and do not fret over them like I do lenses. They also bounce and do not break. Ka-tink Ka-tink Ka- down the sidewalk, and not an issue.

a drop of WD-40 also makes a nice calydascope effect for all those children of the '60s.
