I inherited my father's Miniature Speed Graphic (with Graphic (spring) back) and National Graflex Series II and in a previous post got help taking apart the National Graflex and reattaching the curtains to the spools.
I am now ready to start putting the camera back together except that the curtains both have sticky patches that I am worried will affect performance. I think these patches are from the original glue. They are very sticky and if I wind the curtains up and gently unwind them the curtain sticks to itself. I have tried scraping them off but I began to notice that I was damaging the fabric so I stopped. I have tried applying Pledge to those areas in several coats but the sticky patches persist. What else can I do to get rid of these?
thanks

strip the sticky areas with lacquer thinner then recoat with Golden Heavy Body Acrylic Artist paint #1040 Carbon Black diluted 1:1 in thin coats until light tight. _________________ The best camera ever made is the one that YOU enjoy using and produces the image quality that satifies YOU. |
