I have a Graflex top rangefinder 4x5 Crown Graphic. While focusing the camera in the field I heard a "twang" followed by a "tinkling" sound, following by a mass of ball bearings falling out, followed by a panic attack. No wonder the rangefinder doesn't work.
Can this be fixed. I've salvaged most of the bearings, spacers, and pin.
Thanx,

Don't know 'bout repair - one of the Graflex Masters will have to address that, but, Stephen Shuart has complete top rangefinder tube assemblies for $60. http://www.stephenshuart.com |

putting the balls and spacers in is easy. Finding them is the difficult part. If Stephen Shuart has the uh parts that's great!
You might need to find a repair manual to find out which top RF is yours (they made a running change and lengthened the rod and removed a ball or spacer) then its just one ball one spacer until its full and put the cap back on. |
