Hey folks, new member and proud new owner of a Pacemaker Speed Graphic here.

Appreciate all the help I've found on the site already - but I have a quick question.

I understand that it's best to store the camera with the shutter released from tension. I read that I should have the shutter speed window showing zero, and the governor set to "1"

Can someone please clarify for me whether the governor is in correct (#1) position if it is towards the lens or towards the film/GG?

Thanks so much,

Scott

It doesn't matter, as the speed selector switch on the Pacemaker doesn't change the spring tension. Moving the switch to the lower speed range engages a little brake (the governor), which slows down the rotation of the roller on which the shutter curtain is wound. The spring tension remains the same - there is no adjustment for it at all on the Pacemaker. This is quite different from an Anniversary Speed Graphic or a Graflex, on which there is a range of spring tensions which can be set, #1 being the lowest.
