So, in a fit of lunacy, I picked up a very good condition RB Series B, 2x3, apparently late model (SN 443262, and the lens is "ES", so I assume 1947). Aside from some minor corrosion and spores in the viewing hood area, it's in nice shape....

.... except someone (not me) appears to have taken the winding panel loose, because the slits are all over the place, and the position marker goes from "blank" to "B", passes "O", stops almost at "C", then "T", "D", and finally "A" (and then a blank, and "B" again).

Also, the tension is off, but I know how to deal with that.

How hard is it to reset the winder on the top roller, since I assume that's what's happened?

Thanks!

the 2x3 series b is like no other. each setting requires two cranks on the shutter curtain lever.

At the moment, it's 2 turns to the first click, then 1 turn to each following one.

And the shutter curtain is out of position-- the slits frequently stop in the middle of the opening.

The Graflex aperture wheel on the wind plate is marked non linear. With the wind plate removed turn the wind key in the direction of the arrow until O is centered in the window then install on the camera body with the top of the O aperture at least 1/4 inch above the top guide of the image opening to the bottom edge of of the top roller.

Perfect. I thought that's what the graflex repair guide was suggesting, but it's nice to confirm I interpreted it correctly.

By the way, I couldn't find that SN in the published list-- does anyone have a more detailed answer for the age?

Thanks!

Standard aperture plate wind position is Blank, aperture left of window, aperture centered in window, aperture right of window. The 2x3 wind plate may require 2 turns of the wind key per position as its been years since I had one off.

443262 - in an order of 1500 listed 8/6/1947 with the next order 11/1947.
