Is there a commonly accepted way to sync a flash to a lens shutter for one of these lenses? It looks a bit like a miniature version of my 127mm/4.7 Ektar but it has no flash sync posts discernible anywhere.

If certain heroics are required, I think I will use the focal plane shutter on the camera instead since the focal plane shutter on this Miniature Speed Graphic is in very good shape.

OK now if you are talking about a Kodak shutter there is 3 or 4 different one
the 1940 to 1944 with NO flash sync minty times its a gold color Supermatic
next is a 1941 to maybe 1954 Kodak Flash Supermatic it has F , M ,& X sync
then a 1947 to 1958 Supermatic X & Supermatic 400 both X sync

Mine is code EC, so 1941 if I am reading that correctly. It is a Supermatic - gold-ish. It doesn't have any sync unless it's hidden somewhere.

yes I have never seen one of the gold-ish with flash sync

the 1941 to maybe 1954 Kodak Flash Supermatic is the first one
that I know of with flash sync and only on a Ektar 105mm until
1945 as best I can find!
but at anyway if it has sync it will say (x) or flash on it

It has neither the X or any wording or indication of flash.

Kodak/Graphic Supermatic-no flash sync. Flash sync is accomplished by an externally mounted solenoid set to trip the shutter X milliseconds after the flash bulb has been fired so that the shutter is at full open the instant the flash bulb is at its peak. It can also be adjusted so that most electronic flash will work somewhat at speeds of 1/30 second or slower.

The solenoid for a 2x3 camera has the plunger attach lever at a 90 degree angle to the solenoid body and is fairy short in overall length.

Kodak/Graphic Flash Supermatic- has a selector lever for one or two M type flash bulbs and later versions have F-X for gas filled flash bulbs and electronic flash.

Kodak/Graphic Supermatic (X)-flash sync for electronic flash only.

I do not know the manufacture date range for each type.

I am interested in learning more about this solenoid option. It might be a worthwhile thing to consider.

My Ektar sounds like it's in better shape than this lens. Are solenoids something I could mount to my existing board and use my existing lens, provided I can find one?

That is a 2x3 camera lens board with a lens and solenoid. The shutter needs a CLA.
That is the type solenoid you need for a 2x3 camera.

Got it. I will keep an eye out for that type of solenoid. My nearby camera shop may very well have one. (They actually speak Graflex there, and that's where I got my RB Series D and my 4x5 Speed.)

These lenses were found on the Miniature Speed Graphic and that camera has a flash sync terminal at the rear shutter.
