Seeking information on Speed Graphic Body Release Plate that will not release focal plane shutter when using the body release trigger. Have removed metal parts from camera, cleaned and lubricated but it is tricky and sometimes works and sometimes not. Problem seems to involve pin which the selector switch puts in either front shutter or focal plane shutter will on its own drop into the front shutter release cam. Is this supposed to be stationary? Is it supposed to be permanently attached to the selector switch?
Thanks for any help. Russ _________________ Russ |

RHARVEY,
YOU MUST PRESS THE SWITCH INWARD TOWARD THE BODY TO LOCK IT IN EITHER POSITON....NEVER SEEN ONE THAT WAS WORN SO BAD IT WOULD NOT WORK PROPERLY (repaired 100's of these cameras while I was in the repair business)
Have a nice day.........Bert |

Bert - Excellent point, and thank you very much for trying to help me with this problem, which I didn't explain very clearly. I spent 6 1/2 years working on Speed Graphic cameras in the Air Force, used, serviced and overhauled our 12 assigned cameras. And, as you say, I never once had a problem with the body shutter release. Do you know of any publication which shows the internal body release mechanism? Most tell you how to cut the leather and remove it, none give any indication of how to repair this riveted-together assembly. Thanks again, Russ _________________ Russ |
