That's it really. Since the original Graflex units are in demand, I wonder if the Kalart will work...

The Kalart Compak was intended for use on cameras with leaf shutters with cable release sockets. While there's no reason it wouldn't work with most front shutters, a Kalart Master
(with it's push button synchronizer/release) would be a better choice.
I agree that the Graflex flash units go for stupid money, but similar flashguns made by Heiland, King Sol, and others can often be found at more reasonable prices.

It should work I use one on mine, but I created a cord to sync the flash to my lense.
For you the only trouble would be syncing the flash right with that crasy screw cord.
