I recently acquired a GV II with a 8 1/4 F6.8 Goerz Dagor with a Compound shutter and a Deckel Munchen 120mm, F9 with a Compur shutter. Can somewhat tell me about this second lens? I have not found anything in my Google searches. My question on Goerz Dagor operation is how to keep the shutter open during focusing. I did not get a cable release not is there an obvious point of attachment. In B or T setting, I can manually hold the shutter open, but I need two hands to focus, etc. What am I missing?

The Dagor's shutter needs service. On "T" it should open without being cocked by pressing the release lever. Pressing the lever a second time will close it.

Deckel is the manufacturer of Compur shutters, not a lens maker. Take another look at your 120/9 to see what's engraved around the lens.

The text around the lens reads as "No 254987 Steinheil Munschen Weitwinkel Unofocal 1:9 f=12 cm". Does that help?

The Dagor will be sent off for service. Thanks

Um, the wide angle Unofocal is a bit of a mystery lens.

The Vade Mecum says that Unofocals are dialyte type lenses made in f/4.5 and f/6. These "were so well liked that they were in use for many years. They should be brilliant and contrasty and give even illumination and have especially good colour correction." The f/4.5 cover 60 degrees, the f/6 covers "more than 70" degrees. But there's no mention of an f/9 wide angle. Based on the serial number, yours was probably made in 1934 or '35.

It sounds very interesting. If I were you, I'd try it out. If you do, please report back on how well it shoots.

Good luck, have fun,

Dan

A true mystery lens. Kingslake doesn't say anything about an F9 either. The Lens Vademecum is quoting Kinglake on the dialyte lens design.
