I've got a lens/shutter on a 2x3 board, the glass is good, the Graphex shutter is too pooped to pop. Anyone know which shutters can take this lens, and does using a shutter other than the Graphex negate the current focusing scale?
thx

Hi,there!
I have a crown 2x3 of 1953,so we are talking on the same terms here.BUT what is a EKTAR lens doing in a Graphex shutter?.
Graphex shutters have OPTAR lenses,EKTAR lenses have Graphic Supermatic shutters.
This is just a personal opinion, but I would go back to the drawing board, and (a) look out for a Supermatic shutter,or (b)look out for a complete lens & shutter.(with correct lens, not mix and match).
Will it effect the focusing, yes it will, you will have to re-calibrate from scratch. But first, find the correct shutter for your 2x3 Crown. Then worry about the other later.
Once up & running,a gem of a camera. |

Oops, I mistakenly said Graphex when I should have said Flash Supermatic. Looks like I'll get a completely new assembly & sell off the other (unless there are other suggestions for recycling the glass.) Thanks, Sid. |

| Horace, the shutter has nothing to do with the lens' focal length, and its the lens' focal length that determines which focusing scale to use. If he replaces a Supermatic with a Supermatic and keeps his old glass, his RF should stay in calibration. |

Listen,Im not getting into a war on words over this.
If he retains his old lens, yes,it will remain the same...if he changes,he will have to re-calibrate.
Why do I know this, from long experience,I've changed over shutter/lenses on my 2x3,and they are NOT the same, any of them.
I can't say fairer than that can I.If others have a miracle cure, fine.Im just talking from a personal point here. |
