I'd like to know the filter size that screws on to the Schneider K 135mm, and would appreciate directions to a good source of adapter rings.

the size is 40.5mm
I got a 40.5> series VII from KEH a while back; try them or Midwest. Or you can find the more common filters you may need in the native size, and not use an adapter. |

thanks but i am after adapters, i want to use a polarizer on a 65mm S angulon and the 49mm that i have will surely vignette. Its also sometimes easier to just carry the one polarizer and a few rings, so I'm looking for adapters to fit a 62mm polarizer that i have on several of my lenses

I'll bet that a 42mm press-on/series VI adapter would work as well. Then all you'd need are series VI step-up rings to whatever filters you feel you need or already have.

FYI: That 42mm works out to 1-21/32". That's the largest diameter slip ring in Series VI that Kodak made back in 1952, according to an ancient brochure I have. The next increment takes you to 1-11/16" and into Series VII. |

You had asked for the filter size for a 135 Xenar; I am not sure the 65mm SA will be the same.
If you want to go all the way from 40.5 to 62mm, you can expect to have to use at least two and possibly three steps. The first issue is going to be what you can find in 40.5; I think you are going to see them typically go to 49 or maybe 52mm. I cannot imagine anything bigger in one step. You can then build from there.
Or you could have a single, custom ring made for $$$
Or you could just step to the next common size, and buy a polarizer in say, 49 or 52mm. Used filters in small sizes are really cheap, and just buying a new set beats trying to use something that is really too big anyway. It may be close, but I do not think the 49 will vignette. For sure the 52 would not.

Thanks for the comments here, I have located a 40.5 to 49mm for cheap and I have a 49mm polariser. I also discovered that i had a 49mm rectangular sun hood, both care of the ancestral collection of 1960's Pentax stuff lurking in the cupboard. it fits right on to the 65mm S.A. I used the polariser on the 65 super angulon today. My tests looking through GG suggest that it will vignette slightly but the proof is in the pudding/ processing and i will post a coment on it in the next few days when i get the film back. Mind you I am using a 6x12 roll film back, so any shadow will only be on the 'ends'.

the 49mm left no trace of a shadow with the 65mm SA. I plan to get a step that will do 40.5 - 49mm.
