Hi,
I just recently bought a early series D on Flea-bay in good orig shape.
Everything other than the mirror cleaned up well. The mirror looks like it was cleaned with comet in the past and is somewhat scratched.
Since I got the camera with the intent of using it, what do you guys do to fix old mirrors?
Thanks, any help would be greatly appreciated.

First, determine if the mirror is first (front) or second (rear) suface coated. I'm not familiar with these. If it's second surface, any mirror of the proper thickness will work as a replacement. If it's first surface it's a bit more difficult. I believe first surface mirrors can be obtained from Edmund Scientific. Do not attempt to replace one with the other as it won't focus properly.

RJL,
Look in the phone book for a glass shop that re-mirrors std mirrors! I had one re-mirrored for $10 locally, but it took over six months as they had to have enough work to pay for the chemicals and still make a profit! As for front or rear mirroring, out of focus can be corrected by adjusting the GG to compensate for the thickness of the Mirror.....re-mirror the backside (second surface)cleaning will not scratch the mirroring off then! ..........Bert |

Thanks guys!!
My camera has a front surface mirror, so I will look into having it redone locally.
Does anyone know of a good source for a service manual for the D-series graflex?
Cheers
