I'm looking for a step up ring that will step up my Series 6 (38mm) adapter to 49mm or something standard so I can get to 49mm. I have looked on this and several other websites, no luck.
Any help in locating something is appreciated. I'm near Beaumont, TX
Thanks

Well, This site has a stricked no-sale policy so you wouldn't find it here. I suggest ebay if you need it now, or if there's a camera show in your area, ask the dealers.
You might want to check the links from the Graflex.org home site for the commercial dealers. I use Midwest photo exchange quite a bit. (www.mpex.com)
They won't have these on their website, you'll have to give them a call. |

Thanks - I have tried several (including Midwest) with no luck.
I understand about the no sale policy, just trying to get a lead on one!
Thanks for your help

not a problem, I check around the Detroit area and see if any dealers might have them.

Step rings are a standard item in most camera shops, should not be all that hard to find! And many of the stores listed in the related web sites on this forum will have them on the web!! Bert |

Series VI thread is 44mm, which is not common. I happened to find some at a camera show a few years ago. But now you know what to ask for: a 44-49 step-ring. Good luck!

Don't give up on eBay. Ebay will do 90 day daily searches for anyone. Search under the "Camera & Photo" section so you cover all photo items. Possible Searches: First use quotes for all searches so the search must have everything within the quotes is in each search.... Such as "Series 6 to series 7", "Step up ring", "49mm step down ring", etc.. Try for a series 6 to series 7 step up ring because it should be easier to get back to 49mm from series 7.
Harry
Today on eBay I found a 55mm to 49mm step down ring. I've bought rings on eBay from series 7 to 52mm, 55mm and 58mm. A step down to 49mm should be easier from those metric sizes. Myself, I keep a collection of adapter rings from series 6 thru series 9.

Postscript on the series VI step ring discussion. Although I have 44-49, 44-52, and 44-55 step rings, I never use them. Snooping around camera shows I was able over the years to assemble a virtually complete set of series VI filters, both for color and b/w, including all the standards such as UV/Haze, the "K" series (yellow), red "A" (#25), green X1, blue C47 (hey, wait a minute, wasn't that an airplane?), plus polarizer, +/- diopter sets, decamired, lens hoods, etc.,etc. Also necessary, of course, are the slip rings in different sizes to fit your lenses. Most of this stuff was cheap at the time---I once got a whole bag of series VI filters for $5.00!---but I am noticing a lot fewer of these items at shows nowadays. Another effect of oBoy, no doubt. |

On eBay tonight, Sept. 9, '03 is one Series 6 to Series 7 step up ring and two different series 7 to 49mm step down rings listed. Search in section "Camera & Photo" and search for "Series 7" (Be sure and use the quotes). |

I think you can drop a 49mm. accessory into a Series 7 adapter ring, the inside clear diameter of which is a bit over 52mm. For something that needs to be centered, such as a closeup lens, you might need to build up the 49mm. piece with tape or gasket rubber.
A Series 6 to Series 7 step-up ring should be a good deal easier to locate than a series-to-custom stepper, e.g. Series 6 to 49mm.
Series 6 was almost the dominant front-lens accessory size in the late '50s and early '60s, and there must be millions of Series 6 rings out there somewhere. |
